Being known as the slowest express train in the world Glacier Express does not offer the most amazing views that you can enjoy from a train in Switzerland but takes you to Zermatt from where you can enjoy the most amazing train in Switzerland: Gornergrat train. It's very expensive and takes 8 hrs to do the full trip from St.... More

Travelled from Chur to Zermatt. Scenery is stunning on this route, but for money paid it was a disappointment in terms of service. Our seat numbers which we had to pay to reserve were given to three other couples. This caused a huge issue as many people had the same thing happen and at each stop people were having to... More

WOW. One needs to say no more. It is a 'must see'if you are in the area. We travelled from Andermatt to Chur in 2 1/2 hours. The views were spectacular. The scenery almost unbelievable. We had a day of clear blue sky and sunshine. Meals were served on the train though rather pricey. The thing to do is take... More

This is the second time that we have done the trip from Chur to Brig in winter (last time in 2003). The whole journey from St. Moritz to Zermatt takes about 8 hours so it is we think better to do it in stages The train is known as the slowest express. It goes over passes where the snow is... More

We caught the train from Chur to Celerina (near St. Moritz) en route from Zurich for a skiing holiday. It was an amazing ride as the train spirals up the Alps. The views are stunning especially near the Albula Tunnel. There are maps on the tables which are very helpful. If you only want snacks on the trip, it's probably... More

I booked the Glacier Express for part of our Honeymoon trip expecting great things and wonderful scenery. We departed from Chur on January 14, after about an hour the train stopped with the announcement "Due to technical problems the trains will sit here for two hours." No further information or any apology was given. Two hours later the train proceeded,... More

We took the Glacier express from Zermatt to St Moritz in Sep 2008. We had a 8 day swiss rail pass and hence had to just pay the supplement charge( which is the seat reservation). In 2008 we paid an additional CHF 30.00 as the supplement charge and for food you need to pay additional amount. The journey in itself... More

I've done this trip East-West in summer, and West-East in winter betwen Zermatt and St Moritz. Fantastic scenery all day. Very comfortable train with panoramic high windows. I'd suggest breaking it into two sections, Zermatt-Chur, and Chur-St Moritz, as it is a very long day going Zermatt / St Moritz. I'd suggest two nights in each of Zermatt (Matterhorn, Gornergrat)... What to wright about one of the most famous, fascinated and beautiful train trip I ever did. We were going on a Monday in January when there was a lot of snow. Started at Zermatt and ended in St. Moritz takes approximately 8 hours. There are four parts during this trip that are so beautiful I had the feeling that... More
