The lake is beautiful all around the year, Walenstadt is a pretty town with a nice park and walk along the shore , you can bike side to side.

Stunning
Jul 2020 • Family
We took a day trip to the Walensee for a walk and a boat trip to Quinten from Weesen. You can park your car at the parking (paid) next to the ferry departure and walk towards Betlis (about an hour walk) and enjoy the lake and footpath. We had a coffee at Lago Mio, but I would skip that next time. At Betlis we had another drink (it was warm) at Burg Strahlegg. A nice little place with lovely view over the Walensee. We then took the ferry to Quinten - a tiny place you can only reach by boat or on foot (walking probably another 1 1/2 hour from Betlis). As this is Corona time, we had to wear a face mask, so that made the trip a little uncomfortable, but it’s necessary. After lunch at Seehus in Quinten we took a little trip through the vineyards- again stunning views! After that we took the ferry back to Weesen. The boat was pretty full so again a little uncomfortable, but that could not be helped. All in all a very lovely day trip.

Boating on Walensee
Sep 2019 • Couples
It was a nice sunny Sunday back in August and we decided to visit Walensee for a ferry or rental boat ride on the lake.

Apparently a lot of other folks had the same idea! We drove around for about 15-20 minutes looking for parking, and in the meantime missed the ferry boat. So we decided to rent a small engine 8HP motor boat (as I don’t have the license required to rent the faster motorboat). We waited about 30 mins until a boat returned and then had a very nice afternoon casually boating around the lake, making it down to below the waterfall and back.

I can highly recommend this, although next time I would start out earlier and/or not go on a Sunday so there might be less crowds.

Beautiful walk from Weesen to Betlis
Jul 2019 • Friends
We had a beautiful day, doing the walk from Weesen to Betlis took about 90 minutes. Remember your swimming things as there are many places by the shore you can go a swim. There are a couple of cafes open and no charges to sit by the lake. We went to restaurant burg Strahlegg for a lovely basic farmer style lunch with a view of Walensee in the background.

The high waterfall is 20 minutes away but didn't get there as it was 33°C!!

We went swimming in the afternoon and then caught the boat back from Betlis to Weesen- 9CHF per adult.

Arvenbuel is Marvelous
Sep 2018 • Solo
I would say it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Bus #650 take about 40 minutes from Ziegelbrucke train station to Arvenbuel (last stop) and the buss pass through very scenic area from the very beginning till it reaches Arvenbuel. Then climb to the Chapf view point to see the lake, valleys and the mountains.

Beautiful lake with cruises, hikes, cafes, and splendid views
Jul 2018
We went for a hike on the northern side of the lake. This way you have mountains and forest, and get to see magnificent views on the Alps in the south. There are boat cruises available all year round, but they don't go very often, so make sure to check the timetable. We wanted to park at Weesen, take a boat to Quinten, and hike back, but unfortunately part of the mountain had collapsed and blocked the route in the middle. We made the same trip 2 years ago, and it was great! There are camp fireplaces ready with wood on the way, restaurants and coffee shops. I hope they clear the path soon.

The place that you can see in your dreams
Jun 2018 • Friends
It was a long road trip for us to reach this wonderful destination but we were really amazed the scene that we have seen. In a beautiful summer day, people were swimming in the water and sunbathing. I also really like to visit this place in winter :)

This is heaven.

The most beautiful area I can imagine. Hiking from Quinten to Weesen is breathtaking and almost beyond words. The meadows were filled with wild flowers, the mountains towered above us and the beautiful green forests and emerald lake create an indescribably perfect hike. The waterfall is a must see, and unlike any I have seen before, also very refreshing to stand in the cool mist after a hot hike. The first hour from Quinten is quite steep and requires at least a basic level of fitness and steady footing. The rest is gentle downhill meandering through forests and fields with one or two places to stop for a cold apple juice from a mountain hut, as well as several picnic areas with fireplaces and seating near the waterfall. Make a day of it, take a picnic and cold drinks. This place is perfect.

Great place for many kind of sports, like swimming, diving, biking, in line or hiking. The see is really beautiful. Nice villages around with good restaurants. If you are nearby you have to see it.

Amden Arvenbüel hiking to Vorder Höhi beautiful sunny walk in the snow
Jan 2018 • Family
We had a lovely 3 hour walk from Arvenbüel to/back Vorder Höhi in the snow. The whole way was sunny and above the clouds. The walk is easy w lovely views around. The path is prepared which is also good for sledging with small kids. This is only a snack bar at the top, bring your water along. This is a nice outing for people living in ZH for an enjoyable day trip. My kids sled down the ski piste after they closed the lift. It was great fun for them.
