Very historical important square in old times
May 2019
The name in English is Millers' Square as this was where the city's mills were located as the square is near the Reuss River and the Spreuer Bridge where the mills were located for milling the grain utilizing the power of the river to drive the mills. The Spreuer Bridge was mainly built for this reasons the mills were located near the middle of the river. The square is also located near the Nadelwehr and is also a decent starting or meeting point to begin the Musegg City Wall walk and tour. Very nice square with some restaurants and shops now and is well worth a visit.

Known as Mills Square
Aug 2019
A walk around the beautiful Lucerne city brings us here. Mühlenplatz square is open towards River Reuss because the old city mills have been destroyed by fire in 1875.It now supplies electricity to about 1500 families in the city.

Miller's Square
Jun 2019 • Family
While the buildings are nice, they are not as ornate by Lucerne standards. This is because this was more of a working square. The open end to the river lets you know this is where the flour production was done. The purpose of the Nadelwher was to make this a working shoreline where the current electricity is derived from the river flow. The square also gives the Spreuer bridge its name because you were allow to throw you chaff off of it. Take time to visit when you are at the Spreuerbrucke.

Beautiful setting for a great sunset
Apr 2019 • Friends
After a beautiful day walking Lucern and visiting the recommended locations around this fairy tale city, I ended up looking for a nice place to sit, have a beer or two, and enjoy the last couple of hours of daylight just staring at the beautiful architecture of the buildings and the snowy mountains around. All this was Mühlenplatz. The cold breeze and the warm sun rays make the excellent companion for the local beer! Please, don’t miss this beautiful place when visiting Lucern.

Very nice even in the rain!
Aug 2018 • Couples
The rain made it easier to enjoy as the crowd was not so large. Beautiful swiss architecture and history all around.

Beautifully Decorative Buildings.
May 2018 • Solo
Perhaps the most distinctive features of this square, are the many buildings with highly decorative designs. While it's a pretty square, it isn't one that when you see a picture of it, you immediately know what it is and where. There are of course many shops and restaurants, as well as a charming fountain. Most likely if you're walking through Luzern's Old Town, you'll pass through this square.

One of the better squares in Lucerne
Jul 2018 • Couples
It was better because it wasn’t as crowded. I don’t mind crowds but not when they are loading and unloading buses. It was better because of its proximity to stores, shops and the beautiful lake.

This square is typical of many in this small town, surrounded by typical Swiss architecture. many of the squares offer ornate fountains.

Its a square but....
May 2018 • Friends
it's a square but a very nice one to wander around, lots of shops and eats and swans, it's really pretty and can get busy. We loved walking around, this is where I discovered some new tennis shoes were needed in order to continue, mine were not as comfortable as I had thought. This would be my first pair...yes, needed a second after a few cities. I wouldn't consider it a "must see" but if your touring Lucerne, you will probably walk right through this area anyway.
