Mount Rigi's majestic peninsula on Lake Lucerne is the perfect setting for an authentic Swiss mountain experience with unforgettable views of over 13 lakes and the spectacular snow-capped Swiss Alps. Located in the heart of Switzerland, Mt. Rigi can be quickly and easily reached from Lucerne and Zurich. It is the Swiss people's favourite mountain destination, can be accessed via Europe's first ever cogwheel train (est. 1871) and is renowned for its numerous cogwheel railway and aerial cable car routes. You can visit Mt. Rigi 365 days a year and there's plenty of outdoor action on offer, including 120km of hiking trails. The numerous lookouts, delightful terraces and the Mineral Baths at Rigi Kaltbad also ensure there are plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation on the Queen of the Mountains.

I love all of Switzerland, but this area is especially beautiful. It does not matter what time of year you go. You will not be disappointed by the spectacular views!

This trip was a total rip off. It’s VERY expensive and you get very little for your money. We have been on many cog railways/funiculars, cable cars/gondolas and specialised snow/ice/glacier vehicles all over the world (inc New Zealand, Canada, USA, Iceland) and we understand that...More

Its a beautiful train ride up Rigi Mountain. Beautiful views going up and the top is just amazing. Over the clouds the views are breath taking. Nice trails to walk all over. There are small shops and plenty of areas to explore.

We loved this trip. My adventurous teenager modified the Rigi loop, allowing us to travel up the "back" of Rigi from Arth-Goldau, so we actually had the train to ourselves. Awesome.More

If you are traveling lake Como by train, you will pass via Arth -Goldau, the cog wheel train station to visit the Rigi is at the station, so it would be quite direct for you.
