Open to discoverers. Experience in interesting and diverse ways the development of transport and mobility by road, rail and water as well as in the air and outer space - yesterday, today and in the future. Technical achievements enable us to be mobile and shape our lives. It is only the mental agility of tinkerers, inventors and explorers that has made people as mobile as they are today. The fascinating history of transport and its vehicles together with their socio-political effects on our culture are the key themes of the Swiss Museum of Transport. More than 3000 objects displayed in an area exceeding 20,000 m² are witnesses to a moving history in the most literal sense and point to future challenges in the field of transport and mobility. Filmtheatre - The largest screen in Switzerland: Spending 40 minutes exploring a strange world, seeing the very small in close up, the very large in its true size and experiencing a whole new film dimension. Planetarium: Travel with us through the realm of the stars. No matter what the outside weather, with state-of-the-art technology we will conjure up an impressive starry sky on the dome of our planetarium. Experience an unforgettable space walk from the comfort of your armchair. Since its opening in 1969, the Swiss Museum of Transport Planetarium has been a source of fascination for young and old. Beneath the 18m dome, (projection area 508 m2) you will experience a breathtaking starry sky and discover the principles and the latest research findings from the world of astronomy. This, the only large planetarium in Switzerland, belongs to an exclusive circle able to depict dome-filling moving pictures on its 508 m2 area. The Swiss Chocolate Adventure is a new theme world that allows the visitor to learn interesting facts about the discovery, origin, production and transport of chocolate. Seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting: this multimedia voyage of discovery appeals to different senses. It illustrates the entire value creation and transport chains from the cultivation of the cocoa bean and the transport to Switzerland up to the manufacture and sale of the finished chocolate product.

I didn't expect such a surprising museum: well structured, lot of very interesting information, not boring, interactive for both adults and kids! The ticket price worths the visit!

We spent a few hours exploring here and could easily have stayed longer. There are lots of things to see and do, such as old trains, planes and cars, and it has plenty of activities for children. The cafeteria has a great selection of food (you'll work up an apetite!) and there is a souvenir shop, too.

It is incredibly well organised entertainmentwise. You can touch and clinb stuff. For example you can take a hammer and try to break a huge boulder. A lot of information about stuff. I spent a whole day there. Even as an adult it is the coolest place to be! The 30 Fr are well spent.

This is a huge museum with both interior and exterior exhibits or activities. You will spend the better part of a day if you want to experience all there is to offer. There are many unusual activities for kids like a road building experience and a jet plane simulation. There is a very interesting show about the building of the... More

Being a passionate of railways I have visited this place already several times despite of the highly priced entrence fee. To my opinion it is the best transportation museum in Europe, mybe apart from Sinsheim in Germany. You find the full story of swiss locomotives up to now, full size as well as models in various scales, most of them... More

You need about 3 hours to see thuis museum. At the present time there is an interesting exhibit about buiklding the new Gotthard Tunnel. In addition to trains they also have an exhibit about cars and underwater exploration.
