Better than expected, a good but pricey night out.

Went to see a show and thought I would be sitting through 3 hours of French lyrics trying to guess at the plotline. To my surprise they have a screen above the stage displaying... read more

If you are in Geneva mid September it's the beginning of the season and you might find a performance at your taste, opera, concert. Expensiive but good value for money.

Went there to see an opera in April - it was very expensive for what it was (good, but not exceptionally so) - on par or even perhaps more expensive than Paris, Milan and London (depends on the night). The owners have made a lot of effort to improve the venue in terms of repertoire and casting - and it's... More

As usual, the Grand Théâtre fails in its ability to have a consistent high standard. Das Reingold had wonderful scenery, great staging but let itself down with some voices that were just not quite up to standard and some rather out of tune playing in the brass section. Then, when the 6 golden harps appeared on stage at the end... More

You are never disappointed at the Grand Théâtre. The Opera House has an amazing accoustics and usually brings some of the world best performers and pays a lot of attention to scenic arrangements. You can book along your ticket your dinner at their restaurant, but another way is just to sip some champagne in the upper floor gallery which is... More

Really high quality ballets, concerts and operas. Operas are subtitled in French and English. Usually fully booked several weeks in advance, think about buying your tickets online.

Went to see a show and thought I would be sitting through 3 hours of French lyrics trying to guess at the plotline. To my surprise they have a screen above the stage displaying the lyrics being sung in both French and English, an absolutely wonderful idea, I would recommend it for a night out though the tickets are VERY... We went to a ballet performance in the Gran Theatre, but it was the Gran Ballet Nationale de Chine, not a local company. The theater itself is not overpoweringly large, and most sightlines appear to be decent. The music was not live, so we can't really assess the acoustics for a normal performance.

I like the opera in Geneva a lot, it is in a really nice building, unfortunately they re-decorated the "Grand Salle" in a modern (a bit tasteless in my opinion) fashion and they do not have any airconditioning, so you are better off in winter !

Excellent place to see an opera and enjoy the classical music. Tickets can be hard to obtain.
