This is in a very pleasant park area which in February had an ice ring alongside the giant chess boards. The grounds also have the the famous Reformation Wall which was built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin

There is something about this open space that makes it very attractive. Seeing kids and their parents or friends playing giant chess or checkers in this open space made me want to play again. Just a very pleasant place to be on a weekend.

Walked there from the river. Nice walk. The park itself was busy with the chess and table tennis crowd. Worth visiting.

A great activity to play or watch while chilling at the park. I mean seriously, there are huge chess pieces to play with for everyone... how can this not be fun?

If passing by just have a look or if you have more time and a mate then have a game. Check all the pieces are in the correct squares before starting. There's also draughts, table tennis nine men's morris

After walking a lot taking some time to play a game was a much needed relief. Plus my kids had so much playing chess.

Located near the entrance to Bastion Park are (surprisingly numerous) giant chessboards, with many locals playing. I had a game or two - good fun!
