We had a day in Bern and decided to take a stroll through the old town and get some lunch. It is really nice and everything is so beautiful.

The old town of Bern is absolutely gorgeous. On a sunny day, walking those streets, admiring the architecture and enjoying a beer on a cosy terrasse is absolutely delightful!

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
We do not have a full day in Bern (May 2017) as we are driving through on our way to Lucerne so was wondering if there are few things anyone can recommend to do in Bern in a couple of hours, may be just see the important places from outside as we wont have time to visit any attraction or places but would like to take the opportunity to drive through the city of Bern. Also, is it possible to drive through the old town or is the old town restricted for vehicles?

You can walk to the old town and spend lot of time there. What a wonderful walk it reminds me of. The old town walk also has Albert Einstein's home at Kramgasse no. 49.
How much time required to see around the old town

2 or 3 days would be good but if you really want to relax and enjoy some of the fine eateries as well as soak up the atmosphere try for 4 to 5 days.
Hi. We love to cycle around cities to explore. VCBestor says there are free bike rentals in Bern. Can anyone give more details? Thanks!

They have free rentals at the Banhoff (train station) with a deposit of 20 CHF or so. Biking and walking are great alternatives unless it is raining. Safe travels!
