A big pro is that the bears aren't overly confined compared to other animal attractions. The bears just do what they like, usually sleeping. The park is located in a pretty spot for a walk around.

This is a MUST visit when in town. DON'T Miss this one . . . . A very attractive Bear Park with great surroundings and fantastic view to the old part of Bern. Located right at the Aare River. Visit also the Altes Tramdepot behind (Brewery and Restaurant) they make their own Beer in house, sit on the terrace by... More

This must be the top attraction in Bern. It is great to see the three bears back. They obviously have a busy life which they make up for by sleeping. They looked very comfortable in their surroundings. Walk along the river and see more of the old town.

Sadly, the bears were not out in the Bear Park when my family visited one Saturday morning. The park, however was open and there was a lot to see. You can learn about how the bears were housed initially for around 350 years and of the tradition as to why the city of Bern keeps these bears. If you descend... More

I accept that some people might not like the idea of captive bears but these bears have 5 star facilities!..it was really good to see them and made our trip to the beautiful city of Bern complete!

The 'Bärenpark' is completely free and beautifully located on the river Aare. So here's my tip for anyone visiting Bern on a budget (which is difficult because the city is expensive): On a sunny day, get yourself a packed lunch or take-away food and go down to the Barenpark. On the bank of the river just next to the bears,... More

Barenpark is the perfect place to start a tour of the Bern. Lots of tourist information here and papa, mama and baby bears. It is hard to pull oneself away from watching the bears. A short walk to the rose garden offers an overlook view of the Old Town. Definitely worth the stop.

The barenpark is a MASSIVE upgrade from its "hole-in-the-ground" predecessor! It's an absolutely gorgeous three tiered enclosure with lots of greenery for the bears and high visibility for us humans! It's clear that these wonderful animals are very well looked after by the numerous signs written by the keepers about each of the bears' individual personalities, names, and habits. I... More

We loved the city views of Bern from the Bear Park and fortunately for us as we were there early in the morning the Bears were active too.

This free bear zoo in the middle of the city is just an awesome deal; HOWEVER, the BEARS are sleeping right now so don't expect that for now. The views of Bern are very nice from here. I would definitely visit here if it was Summer, Spring or Fall.
