If you walked through the city center to the Bärengraben anyway, the walk up the hill to Rosengarten is well worth it on a fine day. Wonderful view of the old town and the Aare loop, a park and a cafe if you want. Also...More

Your mom is right ;-) 1-3 hours would be fine, depends on what you will do. If you will have eyes for the flowers, for the view or for the good restaurant. You don't have to walk all the way there uphill. But the walk is nice but also possible to do only downhill. At the train station take bus Nr. 10 direction "Ostermundigen" to bus stop "Rosengarten". It takes around 7 Minutes, and you are there.
The Rosengarten is not big at all.
