The Prison tower is located near the Pfeiferbrunnen. The original tower dates to 1256 and was demolished in 1640 and rebuilt, and the clock tower bell was added in 1643. The last prisoners were moved to another prison, in 1897. It is now a storehouse...More

It seems like a normal entry way into the city until you see that it was a prison. A fun thing to see as you stroll along the history filled town.

This tower commands attention to those walking towards the old town. Why? It looks ancient and it's got a clock and a bell. Also, it marks the start of your walking tour to the most vibrant tourist hub in Bern.

Was closed when I was there. It looks boring on the outside too. Would have missed it if not for a deliberate visit to notice this place.

It seems every city in Switzerland has a clock tower and Bern is no exception. The ones in Bern, however, have trams going underneath them which are interesting. Just watch out for the trams when you trying to photograph the tower. Of course in Bern,...More

It looks superb from outside and specially the roads leads to this place are beautiful. I didnot went inside but watched it from outside.

The Prison Tower has an interesting history. The street leading up to it is beautiful. It is a great photo op.
