Basel is having a very nice old town, nice shops, clean and ordered as usual for Switzerland. It is already a different mentality with respect to Zürich, more confusion and less people in center.

A stroll through Basel Altstadt is a pleasure in any season. It's a perfect way to get acquainted with the medieval parts of the city.

Whilst you can shop for just about everything if you take time to see past the modern shop interiors you will see some stunning architecture and a city that has a historic past. Well worth visiting if you like buildings, history and shopping

you will be very surprised doing those guided tours... basel is not just all about chemical and pharmaceutical industries... while walking the old parts of the city you really get a feeling for the old old times... some houses date back to 1400 and older... and yes Basel has a rich story to tell...

As you stroll through the old town of Basel, one of the most intact and beautiful in Europe, you’ll be amazed at its unparalleled architectural diversity. Each corner features buildings from the 15th century as well as those designed by contemporary, internationally renowned architects. Due to its small size, the city is easily explored on foot. Here you will discover... More

You should lose your way a bit throught the small streets of the city. You would discover many nice shops, cafes and such. The old city is not that big so you can cover good ground in few days.

An experience, especially starting late afternoon and going into early evening. Dont forget to cross the bridge on the river or even take the river ferry from one side of Basel to the other. Simple pleasure!

Beautiful neighborhood with a lot of fascinating historical and architectural detail. We had fun wandering the quieter streets and window shopping. We only had a few hours in Basel and we would love to come back to see more!
