Free visit
Sep 2020
The botanical garden is not very big, but it is free. There are a lot of plants, but the tropical wing is currently being repaired. We visited it at noon and it was full of people who came to eat their lunch in the sun.

Klein aber Fein, as they say
Jul 2019
This is a very small park, but it's lovely. Some hot houses that are being renovated as of summer, 2020, and outdoor space with paths. Not so much a tourist spot as a quiet place to wander or eat lunch when you want a break in the day.

A fun find
Sep 2019
Walked through the garden while wandering around the old town streets and visited the green house. Enjoyed the variety of plants.

Nice and free
Mar 2020
Nice selection of plants and trees from all over the world. The plant from hot countrys are in greenhouses which invite for a stroll. The highlight for me was the indoor pond with all kind of lillys.

Scheduled tour was good
Oct 2019 • Couples
Our docent did a two hour tour and covered a lot of ground. Three green houses, and most the grounds. It’s free and is used in study by the university. Big redwood seemed out of place but was nice.

Free green oasis with many exotic plants
Sep 2019 • Family
Adjacent to Spalentor, the Botanic garden is open to the public (except at night) and is free. The big greenhouse is currently closed for renovation, but three smaller greenhouses and many small and big exotic plants are well worth a visit.

Calm and beautiful
Jul 2019 • Business
Had a fantastic hour going through this garden which featured greenhouses with different climatic zones. Not a big garden like the one in Geneva but very nice to walk through especially in summer. Lovely placed benches where you can have a seat and day dream.

"Watchout For The Gator!"
Jun 2019 • Couples
My Honey Bee and me were in Basel in June; we had wandered around and found the Spalentor. As we searched for a WC we stumbled into a Botanical garden; the young lady in charge was helping some others and she waived at us. We found the WC and strolled into a tropical greenhouse which had a Beware of Alligator sign on the glass door; there was no alligator and when we tried to pay for the garden, the young lady laughed and said it was free. She proceeded to show us the rest of the garden, which was our picnic spot for that day. Such a beautiful gardens; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Check it out! ENJOY!

Nice gardens
Jun 2019 • Business
The gardens are not huge. But they are quiet and very nice. There are a couple paths and benches to picnic on. There is a nice little pond. It’s a nice place.
