A hidden-gem of Perugia! If you are interested in Italian art and culture, you should not overlook this place. I'm blown away that they house that historical and beautiful stained glass painting of Queen Margherita of Savoy. Our family enjoyed this informative tour very much. Thank you Giorgio and grand daughter, Teresa!

This is one of the best things I;ve done in five years in visiting Umbria. You feel like you are going back in art history. the guide was brilliant and very friendly. Everything is left in tact and you can see the' cartoon' for the stained glass window in Todi cathedral amongst others. Fantastic.

Fascinating!

We called up and had a fantastic private tour of the glass museum—basically, the original owner of the laboratory was an artistic genius, something like Da Vinci. He experimented with painting glass, with creating new colors, with early photography. Go, if only to see the amazing glass portrait of Queen Margarita! There’s no charge, and you donate at the end. There were 4 of us and we left 50 euros.

Hidden gem of Perugia!

Amazing place. We learned so much about this tradition and this family of artists. Poala showed us around and was very happy to take the time to explain everything and answer our questions. The suggested donation is 5 Euro per person (cash only), but please give them more if you can afford it. These wonderful people definitely deserve the support! We had a great time— fascinating information and history, gorgeous art everywhere, and the family is so kind and informative.

Beautiful and eye-opening experience

This is my favorite part of the Perugia trip. The lady of the studio was very kind and took almost 2 hours to explain the history of the studio, the family and the building, the materials, tecniche and process of stained-glass painting, even though I was the only visitor that morning. This is a very respectful art studio dated back 5 generations with fantastic skills, creativity, design and profound understanding of the science behind it.

Remarkable, Unique Experience
Jun 2019
We were transported back to the 15th century as we entered the studio of Moretti /Caselli in Perugia. A tricky place to get to, but using their directions you should be ok. I Google Mapped it before I left too, which helped us from going too far off course.
Georgio met us and gave us the most fascinating story of the property, family, and where they fit in with the history of Perugia. We toured through rooms that looked untouched for centuries with old wooden shelves stocked with pigments dating back hundreds of years, kilns that will never be moved, crude tools, books, weights, artifacts of every type. The science behind the stained glass process will intrigue you for sure, but seeing the sketches, drafts and some final works will prove this experience to be one you will not forget. Theresa, the granddaughter, was being guided by her grandfather to be able to give her own tours. It was sweet to see the relationship and pride they both had of the family history and talents.
We made an appointment for our family of 7 to have this experience alone, and it worked out very well. One of their family members was actually in the studio working on a small glass project, so we were able to see what went into that stage.
They don't charge for the tour, but do give a donation, because they really deserve the appreciation you'll feel from the time they give over to you.

the birthplace of the stained glass !!!

The place where the color, light and beauty are interwoven. The place where the stained glass acquires its form, shape, beauty and the final touch before it adorns the magnificence of the cathedrals and minsters!!!
