Informative tour
Sep 2021
I joined a one hour virtual tour by Heygo. Our guide, Patrizia-Umbria, was very knowledgeable and spoke very clearly. She was so interesting that it make up for travelling virtually during this Covid time. Firstly, we took the Minimetro with her to the hill at the top. She focused on the Perugino outlet and told us very interesting story about Luisa Spagnoli who started the Baci (Kisses) chocolates. In the shop, we saw the different flavours and types of chocolates. We also learned about how Luisa Spagnoli also thought of the idea of using angora yarn for knitwear including shawls, boleros, and fashionable garments which she trademarked l'Angora Spagnoli.
I strongly recommend a tour by Patrizia as she was so enthusiastic in leading the tour with her knowledge and friendly mannerism.

As non-Italian I went without prejudices. And I was right... now just don't understand why everybody speaks about Assisi, Firenze, ... and not about Perugia?

Ancient Walled City
Feb 2020 • Solo
Perugia’s ancient walled hilltop city is a delight to explore. It’s relatively compact although there are some steep up/down sections that may prove challenging. There are churches, museums, old palaces, a Roman aqueduct (part of which can be walked), beautiful buildings dating back many hundreds of years, an Estrucan well, an international university, a fabulous subterranean city, restaurants, cafes and much more. Simply wandering the narrow cobbled lanes are the best way to explore and enjoy the ancient atmosphere. Behind some of the buildings located on Piazza Matteotti are public terraces that offer sweeping views of the Umbrian countryside. The best part...no crowds! Just locals and students going about their daily routines. An authentic slice of life in Umbria.

Although Perugia is interesting the monumentality is in the old town. Start visiting the Palazzo dei Priori and continue to see the museums, the churches, the ancient streets, the fountains and the arches of the medieval city.

Perugia’s old town is a real treasure. Many restaurants, shops, cafe’s. Wonderful architecture. Worth the hike up the hill to see it. Walk down Via Cesare Battisti for a breathtaking view of the city.

Small Treasure

Perugia's Old Town is a small treasure. You can see it from anywhere as it sits on top of a hill. Once there you can great square with history, many restaurants and cafes. Beautiful view of the valley below from the top.

Beautiful old Perugia!

The history in this town is amazing. You must go below the town and see the old/past cities that were built there. We were there during their annual Chocolate Festival and the streets were lined with chocolate vendors - yummy!!

Beautiful, yet modern
Oct 2018 • Couples
Perugia was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy, with its beautiful old city centre served by the very 21st century mini-metro transit system.
It's a great place to wander, dip into a church or two, have a great lunch and chill out.

I really loved old town Perugia. It was a great place for a liesurely walk for food, gelato, museums, churches, and just people watching. Very safe and pretty quiet.
