We parked nearby and decided to walk over and take a look before heading into Gubbio. It's pretty remarkable how close you are to such ancient ruins. It's definitely worth the look, there is plenty of grass and some trees nearby to enjoy, especially during the hot months.

We took the tram ride through the city and down around the teatro. Great way to learn about the history and see the highlights.

On the outskirts of Gubbio in walking distance from the main town you will find the Roman Museum and the Roman Amphitheatre. Visit the Museum first. It is only small but it contains some lovely mosaic floors and Roman artefacts from the Roman Villas that have been excavated nearby. At the Museum you can pick up a token that will... More

Only costs 3 Euros to go into the large (new?) museum of artefacts and the Roman ruins themselves. Not as extensive as some you may have seen but still interesting and well worth a visit.

If you are an archeologist it might be interesting but compared to the rest of the town this is not very exciting. Part of the history though and therefore worth a look.

quite a lot of the structure remains and a visit will give you a good idea of how it would have looked and how it would have been used. We visited as the sun was setting and it looked stunning

If you find yourself in Gubbio, there is an open area used for car parking for the visitors to the Tuesday market. The ruins of the Roman Theatre are visible and accessed from the car park. It is a splendid example of an open theatre. It is quite large and mostly intact. I often sat on its steps to read... More

Those of you who have seen expansive Roman theaters like the ones in Sicily will ho-hum this theater. BUT if you are in Gubbio you will find this interesting, because it is so conveniently located and so easy to get to. The ruins have been stabilized, and there are enough of them left that you don't have to spend the... More

Nicely maintained, pleasant side trip on the way into Gubbio. Car park close to and an easy walk across open parkland from Sporting Hotel.

Worth a visit, the ruins are quite good and give you a reasonable idea of a theatre. However the museum was excellent and had some very good mosaics as well as some interesting artefacts. Both were included in the price which was good value
