Simple and badly lit
Jun 2021
It's obviously something to go and visit but it leaves you with a feeling that it is overestimated. The art work is not impressive and the decor far from memorable.

Simple old church
Aug 2020
The church is rather simple inside and outside it is simply too big for the small square where it is placed. The best thing is the road to reach it hiking on the small streets of Gubbio.
Probably the best view is from the back, you need to take the street in the direction of the S. Ubaldo Basilica and hiking a little bit more. THe view of the "abside" and of all Gubbio is fantastic

A day trip from Rome by train.
Oct 2019
Need to change trains towards the end of the journey, but well worth the trouble.
Assisi is a lovely medieval Hill Top city, with a great Cathedral, holding the tomb of St Francis.
Everything about the City is wonderful, but very, very steep hills....if you are not a good walker...be aware!
If you are, then the sheer wonder of all these winding medieval streets and shops, will pay you back for your effort!

it is a simple cathedral
Sep 2019
The current Gothic-style Cathedral stands on the site of a previous Romanesque building prior to the year 1000.The building is flanked by a robust medieval bell tower.
Is a medieval cathedral, good to see it.

Well worth a visit
May 2019 • Friends
Although at the top of the hill there are lifts which help you to get 90% of the way there. Once in the church is an interesting place. Views outside are great, and inside the age and reverance are obvious.

Beautiful cathedral which houses the statues of the three Saints
May 2019 • Couples
This cathedral was erected on the top of an existing Romanesque structure in the time period when it was decided to build the town on the slopes of Mount Ingino. There are ten great arches supporting the single nave. The stained glass windows depict the three Saints and the Duomo houses the statues of the three Saints, which are carried around the town in a race held in May every year for the Corsa dei Ceri (the Festival of Candles). We suggest that you take the lift up to the top to see this Duomo and the Palazzo Ducale, which is directly opposite it.

Austere, gothic church
Mar 2019 • Friends
Austere, gothic church, with huge arches inside, out of the ordinary in Italy.

It's just north of the historical centre, reachable on foot in a few minutes or by the free public lifts.

Much amazing architecture in Gubbio!
Oct 2018 • Friends
While other medieval centers were building classic Romanesque churches, this one is different. The nave is much wider, giving an amazing sense of spaciousness. The arches are wider and higher, all very interesting.
