The town of Assisi is historic and beautiful. As you walk the ancient streets you can feel the spirit of the city. The view from the top of Via Portica is amazing.

The evening view of the Basilica and the surrounding countryside from here is really spectacular. This of course coupled with the portico which is memorable by itself.

Enter the square and take time to enjoy the ambience and view of the Cathedral. There are some steps that take you up to the garden which also gives you a good view.
You can't mistake this magnificent entrance to the Basilica San Francesco. Plenty of places to rest and even a toilet! Sit and watch the world and his brother go by. Beautiful views of the valley below.
This is the square that we walked a while back to get to the Basilica of St. Frances, beside the arched passage there is nothing else to see.
