Interesting Archeology
Jul 2019
Interesting due to the connection with St Francis. I enjoyed the way the archeology was blended into the church's floor. It is worth a brief stop.

Co-Cathedral of Assisi
Apr 2019
This is the Co-Cathedral of the Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino, dedicated to St. Rufinus of Assisi, who helped to convert this town to Christianity in the 3rd Century. His tomb can be found under the main altar. This church is not as grand, compared to the Basilicas of St. Francis, St. Clare and St. Mary of the Angels. Nonetheless, what is significant is that it was in this church that St. Francis and St. Clare were baptised. It was also here that St. Clare discovered her vocation after hearing St. Francis preached. Entrance is free (except if you are intending to go to the museum) and photo-taking is allowed.

Quite Place and Very Holy
Oct 2019
This was the first church that we had visited once we arrived in Assisi. A gorgeous church where Saint Francis was baptized. Very privileged as a Catholic to have visited this place.

The Assisi Cathedral
Dec 2019
You can walk along quite a bit of the aisle area inside the Cathedral and look through perspex covers to ancient excavations of earlier days in Assisi. Beautiful art throughout and quiet side altars

A beautiful Romanesque cathedral
Dec 2019
San Ruffino is the cathedral of Assisi - especially remarkable for its beautiful - austere and graceful - façade, and a spacious and light interior, where the baptismal basin where Saint Francis and Saint Claire were baptized almost disappears under flowers and an iron grille. I didn't see the museum, but they say is good.

Historical Cathedral
Oct 2019
The cathedral of Assisi is near the top of the town. The church is quite simple inside and outside. But it is and old, historical church where Saint Francis was baptized. There is a nice chapel on the side that has beautiful decorations. It is worth the climb up the hill on a tour of Assisi.

We stopped in San Rufino’s while on a walk to the top of the hill.
As all are, another beautiful church. The churches are never disappointing!

another fabulous church
Sep 2019
The most beautiful buildings in Italy are churches. In any town there is at least one (ueually more) church that is woth a visit. In Assisi, there are many churches that are worth a visit. This is one of them. The building is beautiful and so is artwork inside. So, when you are in the area, don't miss this one.

Well worth the climb
Oct 2019 • Couples
At the other end of a big hill from St Francis’s Basilica but well worth the climb. Much simpler but no less moving, with a glass floor covering some ancient remains.
