I will discuss the entire town here. If you want to go to the fortress at the top then I would be persistent and drive as close to the bottom walls of the fortress as you can get. It is free parking but limited. When...More

The piazza was beautifully set with a fonte nearby and a temple dedicated to the ancient goddess Minerva. There was a fountain set with lions at the end of the piazza. It is surrounded by a number of tastefully maintained buildings including several good gelato...More

This is one of the most beautiful and unusual piazzas in a country filled with same! Unusual because of the presence of the Roman Temple of Minerva now a Catholic Church, and lovely with its fountain at one end and interesting buildings surrounding it. Definitely...More

Assisi was as great as ever! Twelfth trip and never disappointed. Stayed near a small hilltop town at a family run agriturismo and traveled to various places in the region. Assisi was one of our stops. Touristy but great cafes, restaurants, and attractions. Beautiful countryside...More

This is a little gem. You get a mix of the medieval and the ancient Roman. A truly atmospheric place both during the day and at night when it's beautifully illuminated.

A large piazza, located centrally, in Assisi. It is lined with shops, restaurants and historical buildings. This is a great location to operate from, to paraphrase “all roads lead to Piazza del Comune”. It is what is located beneath the Piazza that is phenomenal.

We did a walking tour of Assisi and the Piazza was a wonderful place to sit and people watch while taking a break. Gorgeous medieval architecture, ever present centerpiece fountain and you can view the Temple of Minerva from this spot.

If you look at a map, you picture a substantial open space. Instead, the piazza is small and very irregularly shaped. The small size of the piazza teaches an important lesson about medieval Italian mountain cities: Daily life was crowded and even important civic institutions...More

If you are in Montefalco you can't come to this square; here you will find the beautiful town hall, and you can sit in one of the restaurants and taste some good truffles and of course ... the sagrantino!
