It was an especially windy day for a hike but the view was magnificent and well worth the biting cold! The grounds are well kept and there are several interesting things to see in the castle. But the view! Seriously!

This is the top of Assisi. The view of the sweeping Italian countryside is breathtaking and beautiful. We had a clear cloudless sky and were rewarded with an unbelievable view

This castle is beautiful! We walked up the hill to get here which was hard but rewarding once you got to the top. Lots of history and they setup rooms to show how the people would look in each.

If you have the time - make the effort and walk up to Rocca and enjoy the scenery - all around. The area is historical and good to ponder over from up here.

My husband and I hadn't read anything about Rocco Maggiore but seeing it from any view that included the city of Assisi made us wonder about the castle/fortress. After having cycled to Assisi, we hiked up to Rocco Maggiore, all the while admiring the view...More

Assisi has been one of my favourite places so far in Italy. There truly is something magical about Assisi. The beauty and energy is wonderful. Highly recommend at least a day visit.
