There's a pilgrims' path connecting the Basilica where Clare is buried to the Basilica where Francis is buried. Be sure to follow it and to tour both Basilicas. The piazza outside the Basilica of Saint Clare is spacious with lovely views of the valley below....More

Although not as large as the other Basilica in town, this one, with it's own history, is first rate. Again, the artwork and craftsmanship are pure delights to observe. St. Chiara is on display in a glass tomb in the basement of the building. This...More

The church is a historic site of Saint Clare and contains her body. The church is free and takes about one hour to tour.

This basilica has a very beautiful rose color decoration and very nice arches. The inside part looks much newer than the outside.

Lovely basilica with the remains of St. Clare entombed downstairs. Very peaceful and the history of the Poor Clares is also interesting. The sunset the evening we visited was very striking from the plaza. And along the side of the hill you can see the...More

San Chiara is an amazing and peaceful church dedicated to one of St.Francis' followers - St.Clare. Please spend some time in this basilica to see the collection of St.Francis simple robes made by her for him. A very spiritual visit..

I got from the train from Sienna to Assisi via Florence (the bus would have been quicker 2 hoursinsteadof 3 1/2). The station is S. Maria del Angeli which is an important town about 5km below Assisi. The bus takes you up to Assisi from...More
