Walkways could be challenging for the less agile. Half price admission for seniors, not at all crowded.Lovely views over the countryside. Mosquito problem if you sit and enjoy the view.

There is not a lot of green in Siena. This is an ideal place for a picnic. There are loos and picnic tables. Very interesting botanical specimens. Succulent and palm house disappointingly empty. Avoid lily ponds because of mosquitoes. €5 entry. Belongs to the University....More

A pleasant walk to this oasis of serenity will provide a tranquil stroll among plants of different regions of the world, all carefully labeled according to taxonomy. This botanical garden is not overly “manicured,” so you’ll enjoy a very natural setting as you move along...More

Unfortunately, this botanical garden is a disgrace. 5 Euro entry, which seemed reasonable so we gave it a go. However, the beds are either empty or contain very poorly looked after bushes and shrubs. And the temperate houses are nigh on empty. When we visited...More

It may have been affected by the very high temperatures Europe has had this summer, but a lot of the garden was very empty (e.g. the greenhouses). We had a pleasant walk through.

I love visiting botanical gardens when on holiday but this was really quite sad. I understand maintaining the grounds must be very difficult in Italy at the moment with water shortages and extremely hot weather but as you pay an entrance fee and it's operated...More

Worth a visit for the peace & tranquility, spent 2 hours here mainly resting, not another visitor was to be seen.Small charge, well worth the wander, built into the hillside. The fact that its run down added to the character.

Not a lot to say, paid 2.5 euros entry and the only life we really saw was the person who took the money. It was a Monday not sure if that is the Gardeners day off or for that matter any growing matter, in truth...More

My criteria for a botanical garden is quite straight forward, plants must be alive and garden should be beautiful... Orto Botanico does not meet the bar of what a "basic" garden should be. My back yard is more vibrant than Orto Botanico and I'm no...More
