Just off the main area of town lies this ancient water source. There is an info board explaining the 100’s of years of history. Definitely worth taking the time to find

Constructed in 12th century and still in working order. Water apparently comes from some aqueduct. It is clear but no longer drinkable. Pity!

This ancient "fountain" (really a water supply for the locals of the time, dating back to 1192 IIRC) is about a 5-minute walk downhill from the main sights. There is none of the impressive artwork found elsewhere in Siena, but it is a large building...More

Tucked away but well worth finding. There are explanations in English for this. It is a quiet peaceful place with a lot of history attached to it.

Had been to Siena many times, but this was my first visit to this fountain. It's nothing spectacular to see, but it is very important in Siena's history and it is a quiet spot to take a break. Also, not far from the base of...More

This fountain was built in 1193! Although it is not as grandiose a site as some of the others, I sat if front of it for at least one half hour not only to relax, but also I imagined all of the people who visited...More

This fountain dates from the 13th century and for many centuries was the source of water for Siena. There are 3 Gothic arches spanning the front of the fountain which also has 3 separate pools within it that gently slope downwards and had defined uses....More
