I very beautiful baptistery with a lovely and interesting font and some other very beautiful works of art. This can be visited as part of the all-inclusive "OPA Si Pass" or a ticket may be purchased at the entrance. Unless you are a scholar of such things or just looking for a quiet place to sit and rest then you... More

A must when in Siena. Don't miss it! Most impressive work of art from the Rrenaissance. Masterpieces everywhere.

Worth a short visit. Get your Siena pass here. There were no queues and it means you can then go straight in without queuing at all the other entrances to the cathedral, museum etc.

The Battistero is tucked away under the back of the Duomo and actually supports it structure. It is hard to know where to look with art on the floors, walls and ceilings. There are some great artists represented including Donatello and Jacopo Della Quercia Make sure you sit in one of the pews and use the mirror to look at... More

The site organisation is very similar to the Pisa one : the duomo, the bell tower and the battistero : all separate but linked in the same location. The walls and the roof are full of beautiful paintings, that you can admire just walking around or sitting on a bench and use one of the small mirrors available. The artefacts... More

Baptistry of St. John lies below the cathedral and date from the 14C. The fasade was never completed. Inside are nice frescoes, the font is adorned with panels designed by Quercia.

Though only small, the Baptistery is beautiful. The painted ceiling is very ornate, there are lovely floor tiles, and lovely paintings on the walls. Too much to look at really!

In a relatively small place there's a concentration of works of art really astonishing , from the Ciborio , which you see upon entering the Babtistry , to the frescos , but especially to the basreliefs at the base of the Ciborio , made by the most famous artists like Donatello , Jacopo Della Quercia etc . not to mention... Very quite and serene. It was wonderful to see the work of Donatello and Pisano. The frescos and bronze sculptures were amazing. I thought it was interesting how the cathedral is supported by the baptistry being built behind/below it on the hills of Siena.

The Battistero can be accessed as part of a multi pass. It has wonderful artworks and frescoes. Pisano and Donatello both contributed panels to the font, but that is only part of a wonderful collection. Take time, it is easy to miss something around the corner in a hurried visit.
