Small lower area attached to the larger cathedral. Wonderful ambiance and frescos and art. Small, so not to overwhelming, but a little jewel of a place. They were going to have a wedding service on the day we were there, but the ticket office gave us ample warning to go and visit before they closed for the occasion.

Please do yourself a favor and do not skip the Battistero. It may seem unassuming compared to the Battistero in Florence, but it is fantastic.

The Siena Battistero is beautiful. It is appealing to every eye, whether you are a true Renaissance expert or just love the beauty of ancient art.

I may be biased, I am a Catholic who LOVES Jesus and loves artistic representations of Him and the Holy Family. As such Imloved this. Honestly, I mostly went because it was on the OPA SI pass....but that said, I am happy I went.

Why? First of all, it will not overwhelm you with sheer size but prepare for what you will see in the Duomo as well as Biblioteca Piccolomini. Richness, detail and compatible style. Secondly, it is the best place to purchase the Opa Si Pass, as most people rush directly to the cathedral and queue up there.

I very beautiful baptistery with a lovely and interesting font and some other very beautiful works of art. This can be visited as part of the all-inclusive "OPA Si Pass" or a ticket may be purchased at the entrance. Unless you are a scholar of such things or just looking for a quiet place to sit and rest then you... More

A must when in Siena. Don't miss it! Most impressive work of art from the Rrenaissance. Masterpieces everywhere.

Worth a short visit. Get your Siena pass here. There were no queues and it means you can then go straight in without queuing at all the other entrances to the cathedral, museum etc.

The Battistero is tucked away under the back of the Duomo and actually supports it structure. It is hard to know where to look with art on the floors, walls and ceilings. There are some great artists represented including Donatello and Jacopo Della Quercia Make sure you sit in one of the pews and use the mirror to look at... More

The site organisation is very similar to the Pisa one : the duomo, the bell tower and the battistero : all separate but linked in the same location. The walls and the roof are full of beautiful paintings, that you can admire just walking around or sitting on a bench and use one of the small mirrors available. The artefacts... More
