Nice garden and nice staff
May 2017 • Friends
This is a nice place to try some wine. Not the best Enoteca that I have been to but good! And the staff was super friendly and the garden nice to sit in. They also have wine bottles from all over Italy at display in the basement.

Quiet Place to Try Wine
Jul 2017 • Couples
This place was empty on a mid-afternoon weekday. Three wine samples for 10 euro, and a nice cool spot to rest while visiting Siena. The mosquitoes are relentless, though! Check out the wine museum in the cellar.

Hidden Gem

Great place for an afternoon drink and snack. There is no menu only a meat and cheese platter for the afternoon, but it was great. That and a couple glasses of wine, a short rest, and set for the rest of the afternoon.

A Must for Wine Lovers
Nov 2016 • Business
This is a very atmospheric place to enjoy and explore not only the wines of Tuscany but of all of Italy - choosing from their well stocked wine cellar. There is also a didactic exhibition in the basement with wines from all over the country arranged according to regions to allow visitors to learn about the major producers, geography, grape varieties and other information to get a good overview of the wines of the country. It is a place to drink and not for a proper meal - though they offer some wonderful local cheeses and charcuterie. Word of caution - do not confuse the restaurant next door with the wine bar. It is not of interest and serves the usual fare one can find anywhere - and capitalizes on the reputation of the Enoteca. The staff of the Enoteca is also wonderful - very knowledgeable and amicable making the whole experience a worthwhile destination. Add to all this the location in an old Medici fortress - you are destined for a memorable and pleasurable place to imbibe - highly recommended for both the serious oenophile or neophyte keen to discover more about the terroir and stellar wines of the country.

Ana Rocks!
Nov 2016
While we didn't eat here, we had a private wine tasting "journey" with Ana. Very last minute - arranged by our hotel when the Tuscan Wine School wasn't available. We had a wonderful time trying 5 wines, learning about Tuscan wines - history, current state, etc. The Enoteca itself is beautiful. While there are outside seating areas, much of it is underground and obviously very old. Well decorated to be comfortable and unintimidating while still elegant. Ana led us through several wines that were each unique representations of the region. After hearing we did not as a rule like dessert wines, she disguised a bottle and had us try it. Of course it was delicious and of course it was a dessert wine.

This was our most memorable evening in Siena and we would happily return!

nice place to drink fine wine
Sep 2016 • Couples
Only 6 wine to choice from by the glass to taste. I wish they have more (maybe 10 to 12) to choose from. Good wine. Little bit expensive but made up for by the good service by the nice Japanese Waitress. Nice charcuterie plate offer at decent price. I would go again in a nice afternoon for a few hours of drinking.

Maybe better in late evening
Oct 2016 • Couples
We went here mid-afternoon for a glass of wine and to check it out. We were pretty much the only ones in here and it was hard to find. It's at the bottom of the fort around back. We had a glass of wine and they brought us some yummy bruschetta

DRINKING IN THE GYM
Oct 2016 • Couples
The Medici Fortress is largely an open-air gym, which I'm not sure the Medicis would have approved of. Deep in the bowels is your chance to try any Italian wine in existence for €6-10 a glass. I could have spent a lot here had we had the time; my wife tried a sweet Negroamaro; who knew?
