The sanctuary of the Italy’s patron saint, Saint Catherine, is a cloistered little church and memorial built around her birthplace. She was born in 1347 as Caterina Benincasa and beside being the medieval mystic, she was famous for her writing and diplomatic skills. The building...More

This little nunnery once housed St. Catharina of Siena and contains one building with some beautiful artwork and a smallish chapel. The nunnery is located just of the street in or out of Siena when you come (or go out) round the stadium.

It was always very quiet when we visited. There is a large courtyard ( toilets located here) and we visited a small chapel in the grounds which seemed to be the only area open when we visited. There is at the entrance to the church...More

A lot of history beautifully restored. An easy attraction to visit and very worthwhile. No lines to speak of.

Our hotel was just behind this small church which I believe had once been the home of St. Catherine of Siena. It has two small chapels and a courtyard and is free to visit. There is also a shop.

Unusual complex of frescoe decorated chapels devoted to the saint Catherine. A pleasant and quiet back street place.

We came across this by accident while exploring the streets of Siena. It is a lovely, quiet, uncrowded spot. No fee, not much to see, but really just a gem of a quiet moment in a busy sightseeing schedule.

A relaxing look into the life of Santa Caterina at her chapel. It's in a bit of an out of the way place. Try to time your visit when the bells here and other churches around ring their bells. A wonderful Italy sound!
