Siena is a beautiful town. Our mistake again was to take a bus tour instead a private tour or even go to Siena on your own. Steep hilly town, so if you have problems with steep walks, not the place for you.
The crypt, underneath the Cathedral, holds an impressive collection of archeological findings, fine art and interesting artefacts. The frescoes and stained glass are really impressive. This is not an actual crypt, but it is very interesting and worth visiting.
External architecture of the cathedral is more striking than the interior, although the artworks within are very impressive. Photo identification required for each audio guide, although their use is included in the ticket. Member of staff at ticket desk was very curt.
I am not a great fan of religious sites however this is amazing. We entered the Duomo at the side and went into the crypt. It was built in about 900 and rediscovered in 1990s. The crypt is covered in painted scenes of the bible...More
