The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

Well worth looking at really very impressive architecture that dominates Sienna from its prominent tower. One the pay to get in and see the museum type churches though. Take your credit card with you!

Very large ornate building close to the Campo. Beautiful architecture both outside and inside. Fascinating marble mosaics on floor. Library room has beautiful, original frescoes on walls and amazing hand engraved hymm books. Next to cathedral you can climb ( at an additional cost ) to a lookout platform that has wonderful panoramic views of the entire city.

we spent around 45 minutes visiting the cathedral whilst in Siena, the architecture is amazing, and the detail is second to none, you can buy entrance to the cathedral as part of a multi pass.

Much smaller than Milan / Florence but far more ornate and worth a visit while in Sienna. Love Barry included

Absolutely massive church with marble everywhere, plus there are amazing mosaics outside the main door. It costs 2 euro to enter, which is well worth it as the artwork and statues are by very famous artists, including Leonardo da Vinci.

Whilst from the outside it may not be as grand as the cathedral in Florence, from the inside it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world. The works of arts and the designs that fill the walls of the church are truly magnificent. If you need a reason to come to Sienna, look no further.

It is impressive sight to visit during stay in Siena. There are 2 options - to buy a ticket and have an access to entire interiors, or just got in to the Cathedral and have a glimpse on some interiors... I have decided to have a glimpse, while didn't have a lot of time, but next time, I will do... More
