The Piazza del Campo is the spectacular centrepiece of any visit to Siena. You can sit and admire the architecture which looms around you, watch the world go by or visit the excellent civic museum and go out on to the loggia for a panoramic view over the "other side". There are excellent ice-cream parlours on the various approaches to... More

Piazza del Campo is a central attraction in Siena and is the beating heart of the city. The nice seashell shaped piazza is an openspace surrounded by cafes, restaurants , shops and souvenirs stores. Twice a year ( June and August) the entire city, onlookers and visitors flock here to experience the famous PALIO horserace, which is a tradition held... More

Napoleon obviously hadn't been to Il Campo before deeming Piazza San Marco in Venice as Europe's best drawing room. There is something so magical about this 'square'--maybe it's the light, the tilt, the colors, the history, the people. Whatever it is, or the combination of all, make this space very special and memorable. Enjoy an over-priced drink just to savor... More

Siena is a beautiful city and the Palazzo del Campo is a great place to relax and people watch. This is a large piazza, not crowded with tourists. We sat on the piazza and watched the world go by. There are restaurants and shops around the piazza

We have visited many cities in Italy and there are some lovely and charming piazzas. But the Piazza del Campo is the best in Italy! Sit and have an aperitivo in the evening and watch the magnificent sky! Well worth the trip!

If not, perhaps the most unique. With its concave shape, many sun bathe reclining on the stone center. Just find a good perch, order a cool beverage (I tend to favor Campari Spritzers) and people watch a while!

Surrounded by countless restaurants and novelty shops this "square" is not a square at all and twice a year is host to an amazing horse race (only seen pictures and it looks to be amazing) the Palio di Siena which runs around the "square" with spectators on the inner circle, do yourself a favour and look it up. Piazza del... More

We visit d the Piazza del Campo late in the afternoon after nine hours on a tour van and several other tourist stops. We chose not to walk up the hill to the Duomo and instead enjoyed a cold sparkling water, a very nice cafe' Americano and delicious Italian pistachio gelato in th cool shade of local restaurant. I knew... More

The Piazza del Campo is a haven for families and singles to roam around and just relax. There are numerous restaurants encircling the Piazza and and the center just beckons you to relax and sit awhile. I can only imagine what this area must look like completely filled with spectators for the Paliodi Siena!
