The place to meet
Jul 2020
Siena is a beautiful town, but the main thing is Piazza del Campo. It was quite obvious that the Italians had not been out for a while. Even though there weren’t a lot of people there, the place had its buzz as usual. It can sound strange for some people, but the main thing is to sit outside at a bar, having a drink and looking at the piazza and the people around.

Great place to people watch and chill
Jan 2021
If you come to Siena, you have to come see the Palio de Siena in July ( I believe they also have it in August) at the Piazza del Campo . It's magnificent. But even if you don't, the wintertime is beautiful here at the Piazza as well. It is surrounded by little shops, and great restaurants , wine selections, and amazing people watching. I always looked forward to the bells ringing form the church. You can sit along the stairs, close your eyes, and just imagine what it must have been like back in the day of the Medicis :)

Piazza Del Campo is a shell-shaped square that forms the heart of Siena.
Oct 2020
Piazza Del Campo is a shell-shaped square that forms the heart of Siena. On one side is the Palazzo Comunale (town hall) and the 102 meter high Torre del Mangia and on the other side it is full of inviting terraces. We pick out restaurant Manganelle at random.

one of the city highlight
Aug 2020
Place might be really packed, especially over the weekend.
Best to enjoy a Spritz at Aperitivo time in one of these nice terraces (forget about service ;) )

Relax and have a wine
Sep 2020
A beautiful main square in the city with restaurants and shops around the edge. It was nice to come here after eating at a restaurant and sit with a glass of wine whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the place.

I didn't eat at any of the restaurants here as I got told by many they are the typical tourist trap - expensive and not the best food... but it's certainly nice enough to have a wine or two and gives you a good vibe of the city.

A wonderful Italian square
Aug 2020 • Couples
A wonderful large square in the middle of Siena
There are many bars & restaurants surrounding the large saucer shape piazza. It is the site of the Palio a horse race that is held in Siena in July & August. There are also little shops selling authentic Siena ceramics & a truffle shop situated up an alleyway The piazza has a great atmosphere all day. It is especially interesting in the evening as you can sit have a meal, watch people walking through & listen to the town hall bells.

Beautiful square, any time of day!
Aug 2020
The Heart & Soul of the City; the main square, commonly called “il Campo” was built on the intersection of the three main roads that lead to and from Siena, destined to be a neutral ground where political and civic holidays could be celebrated.

The square, with a circumference of 333 meters, is paved with a fishtail design of red brick divided by 10 lines of white travertine stone creating a shell like appearance with 9 sections pointing directly to Palazzo Pubblico, the civic headquarters. Each section representing one of the ruling 9 governors in the “governo dei nove” and long considered to be one of the most stable and peaceful governments in Italy.

Day or night, the square is always crowded with people and bustling. Dinner on the square is a must and lively affair, we can recommend it!

Best Italian destination after Venice
Aug 2020
You can't get more medieval Italian architecture than this. Other than Venice, it is the most beautiful towns in Italy I have visited.
It may not boast the roman archeological sites of ROME but what is on offer is worth every visit.
