This is a medieval torture room reconstructed in San Gmignano in Tuscany.in museum form. We found it not necessary unless you are focused on the brutalities of the Middle Ages and beyond. There are wonderful restaurants, stores offering interesting things to buy, fabulous vistas down...More

The articles in this museum had more of a story behind them than the sister museum opposite. The translations were in English although not available for every display which was disappointing. With a bit more narrative it could have been more thought provoking rather than...More

We bought tickets with the intent of seeing both this museum and the death museum. We toured this one and it was very nice to be able to read everything in English and they also had explanations. There were so very sad and graphic things...More

Loved every horrifying moment. A fascinating display of actual instruments and how they were used. Humans are just awful.

This is a small museum that takes about an hour to go through thoroughly. It has descriptions of all the torture devices, and although helpful, some were difficult to read because of the uses of the objects! There was a small ticket fee, but you...More

This museum is not for everyone. Many of the depictions of torture are very life-like (which means gruesome in this context!). But they have done a wonderful job of displaying an amazing array of torture tactics, equipment, philosophy, etc. They say you can tour through...More

I went into this museum with friends on a whim and I'm glad I did. If anything, it reassured me that I was definitely born in the right century. Some of the methods of torture on display I'd never heard of at all and I'm...More

The most important thing about this museum was that it made me think. Firstly one looks at the inhumanity of man in days past, but then you realise that many of these things still happen today in a 'civilised' world but that it is numbed...More
