Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is our second time in Sam Gimignano, but our first time touring the Duomo. The interior frescos were beautiful and it is worth the time to visit.

The Duomo is definitely worth a stop if you are visiting San Gimignano. The frescoes are absolutely stunning. While not as grand as the duomo's in Milan or Siena, this church is great in its own way.

Smaller than other cathedrals but the frescoes were very beautiful and the calmer atmosphere owing to fewer tourists allowed the place to continue to feel like a church.

Impressive cathedral with spectacularly restored frescoes. Should be a must visit when you are in San Gimignano. Remember that this is a church: there is a dress code and silence is expected. A fresco series of the Old Testament is accompanied by a second series of the New Testament on the opposite side of the church. The frescoes of the Last Judgment are remarkable.

Thieves. Ticket office, internet, and Trip Advisor all say Duomo is open until 7:30pm. We arrived with tickets just after 5:00 and they were closed.

My wife and I purchased a 13EUR pass that included entry to the cathedral. Despite being very busy on a Sunday afternoon, there were only two other people in the cathedral when we visited. We unfortunately could not download the audio guide as internet connectivity at the entrance to the cathedral was insufficient to allow download to occur without interruption. Upon entering the cathedral, the woman who took our ticket essentially shadowed us throughout the cathedral - while we understand the need for courtesy and quiet contemplation in a cathedral, the look upon her was such that we thought she was awaiting us to speak to one another just to 'shoosh' us and proclaim the need to be quiet. Aside from the chaperone and inability to download the audio guide (which I am confident one would absolutely need to have brought earbuds for their smartphone to avoid being 'shooshed'), the cathedral is nice. There are signs that indicated guided tours are not allowed inside the cathedral - a bit odd considering that duomo guided tours are the principal draw to adjacent towns' cathedrals. Again, a nice cathedral, but don't get your expectation too high if you have visited others in the area.

This was by far the most impressive cathedral we went to on our Tuscany trip (much more impressive even than Pisa). The frescos and art work are generally in great condition and the whole cathedral is a riot of colour. Get a combined ticket with the Grosso Tower and check it out!

This is one of the best collections of works in the entire city. I absolutely suggest to visit it by means of the cumulative ticket that, besides making the price of the visit really derisory, also provides an audio guide that allows you to understand the meaning of the beautiful works on display.

Very beautiful Roman Catholic Basilica, famous for its frescoes, greater part of which date from the 14th century. The fresco represent the Old Testament cycle, New Testament cycle and Last Judgment as well as others. The Old Testament cycle is depicted on the wall of the left isle, moving from left to right. Photos without flash were allowed, as well as a photo stick. Face masks had to be worn, and prior to a purchase of a ticket, Covid certificates are being checked.
