My bucket list is a lot lighter now. To me, paying the freight for a guided tour beats standing in line every time. Even at 75 the tower wasn't all that difficult, even with a bad knee. The tour included the other structures, They all had offerings to surprise and impress. The guides were first rate. And no, I didn't take the tired old photo of 'supporting' the tower!

Visited Italy on a 21 day tour of Italy, North to South, West to East, returning on Nov 1st.. We customized our small group/independent tour with Firebird (Recommended) who arranged all tours. Of these groups, PISATOUR guide Vincenzo was OUTSTANDING both professionally and personally. First, as a History buff, I look to the granular, not simply the summary overview, of historic places and events. This said, I review hard in the guide/tour area. Thus Vincenzo, who lead our Pisa tour was great! Rating based on Historic Knowledgeable, Interactive Skills, Communication and Group/Client attentiveness, Pisatour was EXCELLENT. All sites seen provided education, relaxation, great dialog and client concern for pace, tempo, nature calls and photo opts. Most noteworthy on our tour was Vincenzo's personal service rendered. I must use an oxygen concentrator for breathing. During a trip my hose broke leaving me in tight straight for oxygen and severely restrainly my actively/mobility level. As my wife noted this to Vincenzo, he offered to walk to the nearest Pharmacy and see if they could supply a similiar hose. He returned within a short time with the item. If not truly a life saver, certainly a life enrichener, Thank You so very much Vincenzo. A most highly recommended group..

One of the major bucketlist wishes has came true in Pisa, Italy. The trip from Florence was thrill and anticipation filled. The great thing was, the tour started on time. Right there in Pisa, the scenery was just so exhilarating and already etched in my memory. Getting on top of the Leaning Tower was the highlight of the Pisa affair. Life is indeed beautiful. Buongiorno!

This can be done as a day trip on the train from Rome and back again. We had a nice lunch and enjoyed it as a nice day trip.. Remember to stay off the grass! Us the Panoramic camera of your IPhone as you are walking in and you can get a pretty cool shot! I found a great place for a piece of pizza at Pisa!!! (see pic)

We visited Pisa and saw the iconic leaning tower of Pisa and walked around the area. We were quite surprised as the tower is really not very high and the rest of the area is nothing special. If you are short of time in Toscana, Italy I would skip Pisa and rather see Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Chianti etc.
