There are 4 entry points, along the route and it costs 3€. It is about 3km, along the old walls surrounding Pisa. The walk goes between Piazza dei Miracoli (access behind the baptistery and the south-east of the city.

There are plenty of free drinking water fountains around the leaning tower even at the railway station so take a refillable bottle with you no need to pay extortionate prices at the cafes.

Pisa is a small and lazy city with dominant tower and dome next to it. You will pay entrance 18€ for tower and cathedrale. The area is nice and about 20 min by walk from the Pisa Centrale train station. You can see one main street with coffee and shops and pass one bridge accross river Arno. I was there for a few morning hours. 1h by train from Firenze,8€for ticket.

So much to see here, even on a brief walk, whether it be the tower and cathedral, the old university area or the bridges and banks of the river.

Visit Pisa! There isn’t much to see in the town but, the architecture is beautiful. There are three structures to view, one of which is the leaning tower. You can purchase tickets to go inside the structures too. The plaza is huge and affords a wonderful area for a nice walk. I think it’s unfortunate there are so many vendors around the historic area pushing t-shirts, leather goods, etc. otherwise it’s beautiful.
