About
It is called the Leaning Tower or the Tower of Pisa but actually it was never used for defending the city; it is part of the religious complex in the Duomo Square and acts as its bell tower. It played an active role in both human and divine timekeeping with its seven bells – one for each musical note – the largest of which, cast in 1655, weighs a full three and a half tonnes! It is known throughout the world for the beauty of its architecture, for its extraordinary tilt, which makes it an authentic miracle of statics, and for the fact that it stands in the universally renowned Piazza dei Miracoli, of which it is certainly the prize jewel. And this is why it is one of the 7 Wonders of the World.

like many iconic places, it is a thing which is cool 'to have seen" You are not surprised anymore in 2021, as you have seen it on photo's. Yay, instagram, I was there! Well done. Anyway, a masterpiece and a beautiful tower. Just difficult to give it a score due to the fact that the attraction comes from the leaning aspect.

A MUST and don’t worry, it is not falling!

We heard many people saying Pisa is not that great and that is just a nice add-on, but not more. After seeing it myself – for us it is totally different! We did not only enjoyed the city of Pisa, we loved the place surrounding the leaning tower. Entering the tower at the end of our tour through all the places was the highlight of our visit to Pisa. There is a nice café beside the leaning tower in the museum with a superb view from the balcony. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is surely a must-see in Italy and we even liked the city!

So much better to see in person
Jul 2021
We've all seen photos of this, but up close it is stunning. Made of white marble and although they blame the architect for getting some thing wrong, hence the lean, it is an engineering feat, for sure. Although work was apparently abandoned when it started leaning, and it was finished by others many years later, there is not a crack or displaced block to be seen. Incredibly beautiful. Nice restaurants in the area and just a good place to hand out also.

the thing in Pisa
Jun 2021
it's leaning, definitely. and that is the reason from most people to visit Pisa. to see it leaning, you don't have to climb it and pay an entry fee.

Interesting visit.

Great to see this famous landmark and have a typical tourist picture taken 'holding the tower up'. We also saw the baptistry and cathedral. Would like to go back when I have more time.

Baptistry, Cathedral and Tower

In the same complex, there are Baptistry, Cathedral and Tower. On the scale of niceness, Baptistry, Cathedral and Tower respectively, we rank. Tower of Pisa is nice. Others are nicer.

On a sunny day

The views were somehow not great because of the condition. This is a super place to visit during sunny day. We still had good fun.

Leaning Tower of Pisa
May 2021 • Couples
It was a rainy day which made the climb and the views a little less enjoyable. Overall it was a great experience. Definitely recommend visiting the tower when in Pisa!

We looked at it from outside. There was nothing special about it. Cathederal of Santa Maria Assunta is nicer than tower, to look at.
