Grand Villa Bottini
Jun 2020
Beautiful gardens inside the Walls of Lucca. This is a beautiful garden with a lovely huge Villa. The decorated ceilings inside the Villa is super amazing and worth a visit.

Lovely villa

Gorgeous painted murals and elegant villa. In the summer the roses are pretty . Right in the centre of Lucca but calm.

The nicest one in the city
Sep 2018 • Couples
The beautiful, symmetrical and harmonious villa is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It is also known as “Villa Buonvisi al giardino”, built in the second half of the 16th century, and perfectly incorporated in the elegant park. This is the place I always walk by when visiting this beautiful city, it is so peaceful and beautiful.

What potential....
Sep 2017 • Friends
Too bad this beautiful Tuscan house is not fulfilling it's true potential.....the gardens too could offer such great opportunities. There is an out door cinema in the summer months, other than that, the house and gardens stand, waiting for an investor to lovingly restore this property for all to enjoy.

Fantastic Experience
Aug 2017 • Family
Cinema Villa Bottini is a great place to watch a movie outdoors. Starting at 9.30pm each evening in July and August, you pay your 6 euros and take your pick of seats and settle down to watch the film of the day. Check out the list of upcoming films online. Great way to round off the evening. People had their dogs, pizza and popcorn. Very relaxed.

Doctors House

Spotted this whilst walking on the walls. Interesting to see how medicine has advanced but also that many treatments have been around much longer than you would realise.

Lost garden
May 2016 • Couples
Happened upon the villa while wandering aroud lovely Lucca.
It seems to be offices, so you can't go in.
Garden is neglected but had some lovely roses and could be beautiful. I think there may be plans to do some restoration. There's a very interesting grotto at the back which is roped off. Be good if they restored that.

Abandoned and tired but still beautiful!
Sep 2015 • Solo
This is a beautiful place but it looks abandoned and tired; it is a shame it is not reconstructed to its former glory. It was closed at the time of my visit and I am not sure whether it is open for public. However, the main gate was open, so you can still reach the garden.

Built by a wealthy family in the 16th century, the villa was abandoned by the 18th century and afterwards handed on to several different owners. For a period of time it was acquired by Elisa Buonaparte. She could not enjoy the building for very long because of the events linked to her brother Napoleon in 1814.

The Municipality of Lucca acquired its ownership in the mid-seventies and some guidebooks say that it’s now sometimes used for exhibitions.

Walk around the villa. It has a fountain, an archway and even a grotto: you can imagine how beautiful it was and how beautiful still could be.
