One of the strangest sights in Lucca is this fifteenth-century home, with a battlement tower surmounted by oak trees whose roots have grown into the room below.

This museum is very interesting in that it dispels its collections of are and archeological artifacts in chronological order. The curators who accompany you are knowledgable and very personable. They bring the past to life. The villa is lovely and the walk there is nice.

Let's be clear, the 5 star rating is not for the casual visitor. This well laid out museum is best I think for the visitor who has already some degree of knowledge about Lucca and its art and can appreciate a more in depth experience....More

The museum is out of the way and the ground floor has no interest. BUT the Medieval items by themselves with the exquisite terracota sculptures are worth the above rate for art lovers.

This museum is a real hidden gem. Not as well known as some of the other sights in Lucca, it has a fascinating and very well presented selection of archaeological, artistic and historical exhibits from the history of the city. When we visited there were...More
