What to expect
Sep 2021 • Couples
You pay 5€ (6 if you want to combine with a visit to another tower) for 30min visit. You clim at your own pace, can be done in 5min. if you are really fast, but normally around 10. It is not a given thing that tickets will be available at the moment you are at the place, so maybe you will have to plan in advance and purchase your ticket a day before (possible to buy online). The number of visitors is limited, of course, but the area is very small, so do not expect a free walk around or a place to sit amd not be disturbed while enjoying the view, as you will have to navigate between the other visitors. Peope basically move in a circle and everyone gets a photo from whichever side/angle. Great view.

Very interesting tower with planted oak trees on top. It can be seen from almost the whole city. We wanted to go up, but unfortunately there was a long queue and we gave up.

Best thing to do in Lucca!

Where else can you climb a tower with a garden waiting at the top? Great and wonderful views and we found it is very special. The pictures do not do justice to this awesome place.

Breathtaking Views
Aug 2020
Torre Guinigi is an iconic landmark in Lucca. The tower with its trees is 45 meters high with approximately 232 steps. If you suffer from Acrophobia it might be a bit of a problem reaching the top and climbing the steps down. If you can overcome this you will be totally breathless at the views of Lucca and its countyside. Linger a little longer and appreciate the views.

A great view at a good price
Sep 2020 • Family
We climbed the tower as a family of three with a 13-year-old son. We had to book in advance but the tickets were only €3 each, a real bargain for the photos of the view at the top. On starting the tour they took our temperatures and asked us to use hand gel to ensure safety from Covid. The group size was also small and distanced so we felt safe. Whilst at the top of the tower the guide gave some information about the surrounding areas. You could stay up there for half an hour although we came down earlier. A real bargain and a good little activity

Don’t hesitate: take the climb!

The unmistakable tower offers amazing views on Lucca and its surroundings. Observing the city from the shade of the Holm oak trees enjoying the breeze is an amazing experience and a must in Lucca. As it was a noble tower, the staircase to go up is rather wide and comfortable (compared for instance to the military clock tower that can be more impressive if you are not comfortable with heights and enclosed spaces).

I saw the trees on top of this tower and had to make a reservation the next day. They only let small groups go up with a guide. The view was beautiful.

Fantastic Views
Jan 2020
An easy climb and well worth doing, wide steps for most of the way. At the top there are the unique trees and fantastic views of Lucca. The walkway around the top of the tower is very narrow so it is advisable to get there early before it gets too busy.

Worth doing

Not a strenuous climb and good views to be had over the city. Admission was 5 euros so reasonably priced too.
