Guys take your garbage with you
Aug 2020 • Friends
I love this rocky coast south of Livorno, and the fact that it is open to everybody: no reservation, no fees, no restrictions other than the parking lots on the road. But please take away your garbage with you. Some spots are rather filthy, cigarettes and plastic bags anywhere. Come on, take care of the nature.

Go just the See the Sea!!
May 2018 • Family
This place is a cool pit stop if you passing through Livorno. It was raining when we stopped but was still an incredible sight to see! It's right off the highway so be careful getting in and out...no real markings to specify either just a small building of the side of the road with a small parking lot.

Not as spectacular as the reviews made out
Feb 2019
My wife and I were away for a city break in Livorno where we walked every day. Our final days walk from from hotel palazzo where we were staying to this location.

In most, this is a lovely sea walk with a path tracing the sea all to antignano (near miramire camp site). At this point, you will come in land a little and walk along side what is a fairly busy B road (the SS1) until to get to the venue.

We went off season and so expect it to be quite and not in all its glory however, we were a little underwhelmed by the experience.

Yes, it’s pretty and I’m sure on the summer you may sit on the rocks/beach but it’s not as spectacular as other trip advisor reports made it out to be (in my honest opinion).

My advice:

1) There are only a few coffee/lunch stops along the way so make sure if you are walking then you take some water/snacks

2) the LAM BLU bus is a great local service which will take you some of the way if you don’t want to walk. It stops at the same site though and you have to do the final 15 minutes on foot.

3) The road walk towards the end if a little challenging and at a couple of points you are actually walking directly on the road that vehicles are whizzing past on. There is no other option here unless you are going by car/public transport.

In summary, a pretty place for a picture but I wouldn’t make this a destination of choice.

Wonderful

We love water,so this place was a haven for us. The clear huge water. It wasn't like a normal beach. We arrived at 10am, so it wasn't too busy. We leave the car beside the restaurant and we pay €5 for the day. You can park beside the road but we felt safer in the parking place. If you around you have to go and see this place

Don't come here on purpose
Sep 2017 • Solo
I am Italian, totally trustworthy and well travelled.
I am a local, born and raise here.
South of Livorno city, Rome direction, starting from the Boccale castle (not open to visits), starts a nice seaside road (the old Aurelia) that bring you first to Quercianella, then to Castiglioncello, two nice towns famous in the area during summertime. The road is nice, curvy, beautiful panoramas and, if it is summertime and you find out a spot where to place your car, open for free to take a swim in the usually clean sea (rocky beach). Be aware of the wind, if it blows from the sea it is very dangerous to take a swim.

magnificent views
Aug 2017
We travelled here to swim as had been recommended but the sea was too rough however we loved the scenery. Further down the coast there are beaches you can swim at even with rough seas.
