main square

Piazza Mino is where the buses from Florence stop, and it is where Garibaldi and Vittorio Emmanuele sit on their horses. a nice square. quite large for the small place, with some interesting buildings around.

Nice Square
Nov 2019
This is the central square of Fiesole where the #7 bus from Florence lets you off. The cathedral is there and the entrance to the Teatro Romano is just off it. On Sundays there is often a market in the square with some interesting vendors selling a variety of things both for tourists and locals. We bought some cheese and olive oil here that were great.

Center of Fiesole

You arrive here by bus and everything is centrally located. We were lucky to arrive on a Sunday when there was a food market in the central plaza area. The Etruscan/Roman ruins are to the right of the church. There are a number of restaurants lining the street of the plaza. The no. 7 bus from
Florence stops just slightly downhill from the plaza and goes about 3-4 times per hour.

Quaint hilltop town

Nice little town with a few restarants and some sights, piazza Mino is the central point, has kept its charm, though small, don't expect too much.

Small Square With Market Day
Apr 2019 • Couples
We visited on a Sunday and crafts with some food vendors were setup in the square.
Many of the the items available were obviously targeted to locals, but some items were definitely tourist oriented, but quality products.

Main square of Fiesole

Pleasant enough piazza with shops and restaurants plus the cathedral flanking the sides. We were here shortly before Christmas and although there were some decorations up there was no Christmas market.

Small but what if it was bigger
Jul 2018 • Family
I did Fiesole as a part of my HOHO bus tour and I think it is not fair to judge the place if you don't spend one full day in Fiesole.
The approach is absolutely breathtaking by the bus. And once here, it is a quiet small square.
That's all I can say.

Perfect antidote to Florence.

If you're tired of the tourism of Florence, get on the red line bus here. There's a supermarket just beyond the square, a bit of fresh bread, meat and cheese and cold drink, sit in the shade and enjoy the quiet of this little town. Just 5 mins walk is a stunning viewpoint with no one around where you can see ALL of Florence and Tuscany stretching as far as the eye can see. You will be the only ones there and not a sound around! Then back to the square or a trip around the ruins.
