A nice getaway

The magnificent garden was constructed around the building of Villa Strozzi in Boschetto, created by the expansion of the Cafaggio forest in the early 16th century. There are a lot of paths, stairways and interesting points with many benches for relaxation. It is a nice getaway from the tourist crowd...

Nice break away from the city centre.

I went to Villa Strozzi for the Tanabata festival held on the 4th and 5th July 2015.

You get a break from the city centre and spend some time in nature.

If you are at the city centre, take the tram T1 line from near SMN Station and stop at the Paolo Uccello tram stop. Head left and you see lots of trees. There is a gate - walk through there.

Peace and natural beauty if you have the time

My wife and I are in Florence for a month and we have seen a lot, with many great side trips. But, we are becoming a little burnt out with the crowds of tourists. We packed up a lunch and wandered away from our apartment in Oltrarno on Via Maggio. In a little over twenty minutes we were in a gorgeous rolling park that seems to be more well maintained than the other parks in Florence. There is a dog park at the top of the hill, a concert venue, a couple of playgrounds, wonderful greenery, and winding paths with some wonderful views. A nice diversion from crowds, tour groups, ticket lines, shops and museums. Local people out for a walk with friends, kids, and dogs.
