I actually visited in late May 2016 (the page gave me no choice to write that in), and obviously it matters , with growing plants, when to visit a botanical garden. I found everything well tended , vibrant and colorful, both indoor displays and outdoor....More

Not the most obvious thing to do in Florence, but if you like to get out the tourist queues this is the place. In the middle of the centre beautiful garden, a "cold house".....check it out, and lot of ponds with pond flowers. Check it...More

If you're into plants, this is for you! The garden hosts a bunch of "exhibits"; cacti and succulents, carnivourous plants, a japanese-inspired garden, a great collection of hydrangeas, palms, including very old (100+ years) trees, carnivorous plants and much more. The garden could be better...More

The gardens are in a relatively remote location in the city. They have many collections but the place is very neglected and the plants are dry and sad. The only thing that was good in the place was the great shade of the trees and...More

These gardens hold a wonderful collection of exotic and Italian specimens that would be of interest to most plant lovers. There are herbs, exotics, cactii, all on display in a garden with seating and also in a large greenhouse. Having said that, they are tired...More

I always try to visor botanical gardens when traveling. Florence's is quite old, well displayed and offers a broad array of plantings. It was so nice to stroll the grounds and enjoy the product of many generations of nurturing plants with nary another soul in...More

We found this by chance, wanting somewhere to reflect, as we had just visited San Marco and our minds were full of Fra Angelico. The gardens, begun in 1545 by Cosimo di Medici, are just around the corner from San Marco: they are behind the...More

A small botanical garden north of the Galleria Accademia. Not the best gardens we have seen parts of it looked a little run down & untidy. Probably had its funding reduced as it is looked after by the university. It has some good tree specimens,...More

These gardens are a little out the way, but not far as Florence is small. The gardens are so quiet and peaceful and a lovely way to end a busy tourist day.

San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a
stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence,
surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking
students provides the tranquil surroundings for the
elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read
the daily newspaper. Home to several universities,
including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one
of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A
