No more music
Jun 2019 • Couples
We visited the church this evening at 9 pm for the organ music only to be told it was closing for the night and that there would be “no music forever.” I assume the person closing the entrance referred only to the evening performances.

The Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci is a lovely Church on Via del Corso Piazza del Duomo in Florence. The start attraction here is the organ and the incredible music that emanates from it. Lovely!

Wasn't looking for it, but happy to have stumbled upon it!

My 16-year old daughter and I were walking aimlessly throughout Florence one evening after our 'American dinner' at the Hard Rock Cafe nearby, and I heard beautiful pipe organ music nearby. We followed the sound and ended up in this small church out of nowhere! What made it approachable was that it was open access and you could sit wherever you want, and stay as long as you want. Donations are accepted, which you will most likely feel glad to do.

I love, love, love this church! I found it quite by accident several years ago while visiting Florence and it was one of the first places on my list this trip. Don't miss an opportunity to visit and listen to the music!

Fabulous organ music

The church has a free organ concert every night at 9:15 for 1 hour (small donation requested). The acoustics are fabulous - it's a small church and you feel like the music is inside you. Sort of a Phantom of the Opera quality. Well worth the visit.

We followed the sound and entered the church to listen to beautiful music for a while. Nice place to visit!

I made a small donation as there was a sign that reads sth like "donate to keep this place running".

Hidden church, but worth a visit!
Apr 2014 • Friends
I didn't know this church existed before I was shopping and heared the beautiful sound of an organ in the streets. There was an organ concert which was worth the visit! The church itself is quite small, but it is decorated well. Next time I'll visit Florence, I definitely visit this church again!

An unexpected treat
Dec 2014 • Couples
We weren't planning on visiting this church, but as we walked past we could hear the organ playing and the signs on the front gate advertised a free concert (it was lunchtime). We entered the church and were immediately entranced not only by the music, but by the wonderful animated nativity at the alter end of the church. This was such a wonderful and unexpected treat and we stood and watched it, mesmerized by it and the music for a good 20 minutes.

awe-inspiring

The organ concert in a mystical, gorgeous church was one of the highlights of our last trip to Florence. The classical selections, ending with the "Ave Maria," were superb. The heavenly sound of the organ filled the church with such power and glory that I was profoundly moved.
