While there are no blockbuster pieces here, the art collection is terrific. Much more moving is the presentation of the history of the institution and its work. The display of objects and histories of children is deeply affecting

We had been to this museum years ago when it was a shell of its current self. It just reopened in June 2016 after being closed for several years. To be honest, the only reason we visited is because it was two blocks from our...More

We went for what the guide books called the architecture and it was worth it, but vastly more worth it was the museum of the lives of the children and adults who lived and worked in this building- a fabulous and well curated and explained...More

Firstly the setting in a quiet but attractive piazza, close to the centre but not one you would automatically stumble across so look it out. It's the site of a former foundling orphanage and has a vert interesting museum which is well worth a visit...More

Brunelleschi's hand is in evidence in this 15th century building. Great frescoes and works of art and the building itself are worth a visit, if you are in the area.

Much thought has been given to educating the visitor with multi-media presentations and interactive exhibits. The art collection is gloriously accessible and free from the crowds of the Uffizi. Today the building houses UNICEF and vocational training.

This museum is a very special place indeed, not just for the history of relinquished children of Florence, but the cafe on the 5th floor, accessible from the street, is a hidden gem itself. Not seen it on any tour guidebook; enjoyed an exceptional coffee...More

For a few Euro (6?) this place has some lovely material on the old foundling orphans of Florence. Lovely building a pleasant simple restarant cafe up top.

The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a
stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence,
surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking
students provides the tranquil surroundings for the
elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read
the daily newspaper. Home to several universities,
including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one
of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A
