This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

Piazzale Michelangelo is top of a hill. It needs a little bit of effort to climb. Once you are at the top, you are welcomed with wonders of Firenze.

Michelangelo Statue in the center of Michelangelo Square (Piazzale), situated high up on the side of the hills on the south side of the River Arno overlooking the city of Florenice, is Giuseppe Poggi's 1860 masterpiece. Easy to get to from Florence’s main train station on a number 12 Bus, for 1 Euro 50. Once you have taken photos of... More

After walking up here from the Ponte Vecchio it was delightful to see Florence from up high. There are signs taking you asking the river and then through the streets and up some steps. Once you arrive there are some street stalls and a cafe. The walk down to the river is rewarding.

A place for the walker and has a beautiful view over the city. According to me, you have to Walk through Boboli Gardens and up the hill to Piazzale Michelangelo. If Louvren and Uffizi are views for the eyes, this together with the top of Il Duomo, is a view for the feet! You feel the happiness as you reach... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
