This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

The panoramic views of Firenza are breathtaking...worth the walk. Plus you can rent a red Ferrari in the parking lot up there for a few minutes and drive around. I recommend walking higher up the mountain to the cemetery.

Amazing panoramic view of Florence especially during sunset. Take bus 12 or 13 from Main train station and should get here within 30 minutes. Walk down to Ponte Vecchio will take about 20-30 minutes.

THE iconic view of the beauty that is Florence. So much to see in the city center that's it's sometimes easy to forget to return to this vista. Not to be missed and not to be revisited.

Absolute must see! In good weather it could have been a good walk from city centre. The iconic statue is wonderful, definitely, however the view of Florence from here is breath taking!

Place to rest with a bottle of wine. Great view of firenze and the area. Better arrive with car or taxi.

It was starting to rain when we visited here but the views to Florence were still spectacular. You can see all the buildings you're going to or have visited there: Palazzo Vecchio, Duomo, Pitti Palace...

A must see! It was somewhat crowded, but we were able to enjoy our visit. There are tons of vendors, so be prepared to be chased around a bit, but never once were we annoyed by them...

You can not go to Florence and not go to the piazzale Michelangelo.. Of course it depends on the weather but if you can.. there is no better view Try to go at night or whenever you can have a moment not too crowded

Easily accessible by public bus. These buses help a lot in saving you from the walk up if you don't fancy the idea of walking all the way up. This place serves as a perfect lookout spot to view Florence. It pretty much sums up Florence for you. The view looks just as majestic as what you would have previously... More

The actual statue is meh but the views of Florence from here are pretty good. There are some themed gardens around the hill that are well worth a wander around

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
