About
This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!

worth the walk
Jul 2021
Amazing view and great photo opportunity. Made me love Florence even more - how many cities have a sunset viewing platform set up with stadium seating so everyone has a good view? It was a walk up steep, slanted steps (with some loose cobbles, so be careful) that got our blood flowing but it was worth every gasp.

Great views of the city and a nice piazza with plenty of space. No hassle to get a good spot for photo. Could of nice cafes there too with reasonable prices and wifi. If you are hiring movi bikes, we found plenty parked up there if you want to ride up there as we did.

Must go!

Here you can get the best view of the city. It's a must have! Don't miss it, it's worth the climb!

Also, if you want to stay down and admire the city, you can go to Giardino delle Rose which îs very close.
