Beautiful from the outside, but because its so popular they sell a multiple building pass. We would have rather just seen the Duomo and Basilica.

A lovely place to sit and take in the view. Some nice places to sit and have a drink. Lots of men trying to sell selfie sticks!

Simply did not expect this amount of intricate work and beauty. Did not go up the Duomo. Hate to think what this is like in the summer with the hordes of tourists and blaring tour guides.

The Piazza is the centre of Florence, a must see. Plenty of Shopping, coffee shops. The Duomo is amazing with a touch of the Medici family history. Great views from top of the Duomo, expect long queues but worth the experience.

The plaza between the Dome, the Baptistry and other important spots in Florence. You need a ticket to enter everything but the Cathedral and you need to book time slots to enter some of them.

All roads in Florence eventually leads to the Piazza del Duomo - A must see for tourist in Florence. Prepare for crowds (even in Winter) but worth the wait to witness the majestic architecture of this iconic building.

The most beautiful and detailed "castle" I have ever seen. This was our favorite Piazza in all of Italy! We are planning our next stay around being close to this beauty.

The Duomo is so impressive and the square seems to be always busy and crowded. Being so packed with tourists, it was quite tough to find easily a place to sit and relax. There are many restaurants all around but still it is not that easy to choose. Otherwise, it is nice to be around the square with the hustle... More

There are half a dozen roads that lead to the Piazza del Duomo and for good reason!! Even having traveled extensively across Europe this cathedral took my breath away. The architecture and sheer size, along with the ornate detail, make it the crown jewel of Florence.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
