One of the must see places in Florence. Great for just walking around the church and taking pictures. People watching, too! We were here during the low season so most of the folks walking around were locals.

This is the most wonderful square you'll ever see! In every direction there's stunning beauty! Fabulous architecture, frivolous tourists rushing about or lounging in the sea just taking in the unbelievable beauty all round! Makes you glad you're alive!

The Duomo must be the most beautiful building I've ever seen (if the inside doesn't count, then the winner is Sagrada Familia). We first saw it by night, glowing almost unnaturally in the dark, cello playing in the piazza. We would have loved to have a lunch or dinner on the piazza, too bad the restaurants there didn't seem very... More

Piazza del Duomo is located in the heart of the city, and there is a lot to see there. The tower was build by Giotto di Bondone on the 14th century.

With an Italian family from Feltre, as our company, my family of four toured Firenze & all over Toscana. Firenze is one of my most precious places on Earth I've visited so far. La Piazza del Duomo is stunningly beautiful & filled with graceful Italian people. There are endless fashion racks of fine lino clothing to peruse all around. There's... More

The piazza is absolutely amazing - 5 of the best and picturesque architectural achievements in history in one square! We decided to buy a €15 euro ticket (valid for 48 hours from first use) covering the Cathedral, Cupola, Baptistery, Bell-tower, Crypt, and the museum. Worth every cent.

The Piazza is absolutely beautiful, regardless the weather and the time of the day or year. All the buildings there are having thei own spirit.

So much to see in this piazza--the gorgeous Bapistery, the Cathedral, the Bell Tower, the Museum...plan to spend a few hours soaking in the art and the history. At night the buildings are flooded in spotlights.

Must visit in Florence. Our family of 4 enjoyed this site very much. We went inside the Duomo and it was as beautiful inside as outside

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
