The Duomo is so impressive and the square seems to be always busy and crowded. Being so packed with tourists, it was quite tough to find easily a place to sit and relax. There are many restaurants all around but still it is not that easy to choose. Otherwise, it is nice to be around the square with the hustle... More

There are half a dozen roads that lead to the Piazza del Duomo and for good reason!! Even having traveled extensively across Europe this cathedral took my breath away. The architecture and sheer size, along with the ornate detail, make it the crown jewel of Florence.

The Duomo was just so beautiful. I really admire the detailed design and architecture. There were also shopping streets nearby. I visited in the late morning, close to 11am and the area was very crowded.

A must see after dark. It was magical when the church bells rung and everyone stopped what they were doing to listen....street musicians played violins while we were there and I closed my eyes and for s moment I felt transported back in time-Magical.

This was a great area to spend an entire day in. There is one price that you can pay to be admitted into 4-5 different areas. It was incredible to climb up to the top of the Duomo and to be able to explore the area in the incredible museum that they have.

I went on holiday to Italy and travelled around for a week in total. I came here as I am a big fan of the assassin's creed games and you visit here in the second. It is a lovely place to visit even if you are not a fan of the game. This is a must see place.

This is what makes Florence stand out is the architure of the old city and shapes and sounds of everything that exists around it. The beauty, size, shape, colours and the wonder of Piazza Del Duomo will put a smile on your face and if it doesn't they people here will.

The duomo is incredible on the outside, the piazza is nice because you can see the duomo. The piazza hasn't much in it, it is very busy and the cafe's around aren't as good as if you venture away from the main piazza. I do enjoy walking through it though, worth going to.

The piazza is surrounded with buildings: on one side the cathedral of Santa Maria Fiore (Il Duomo), and the Baptistery. Nice area to start your day..

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
