Nice Place Holder when in between events

Pretty cool place to visit. I love a good market. Plus, there were street vendors around the building. Great way to kill some time.

Incredibly tasty pizza.

It is necessary to recommend visiting the Mercato Centrale if you want to eat a delicious food (pizza in my case) for an affordable prices. Staff have been very nice and polite and have spoken english quite fluently which is an huge advantage. It is in walking distance from Cappelle Medicee and train station Santa Maria Novella.

Excellent Pizza
Aug 2021
Went to Mercato Centrali for one of the best pizzas I have found in Florence. This one had taleggio cheese with a very pungent pepper/tomato/vinegar sauce. The sausage was a rough ground pork, a very interesting difference in texture versus the leopard skin crust. I ate all but 2 bites. I had to show my vaccine certificate for the first time. Masks on when you get inside.

nice but not covidproof
Jul 2021
Mercatos are always fun. Now - in COVID-times- we didn't have a safe feeling. It was very crowded and no organisation.

Pricy and touristy
Aug 2021 • Couples
If you are looking for a good food experience, don't go to the Market.
It is quite crowded, the food is expensive for the quality and quantity, and so are the drinks.

Touristy
Jul 2021
Inside was smelly and everything was catered to tourists. I thought it was big market but it's pretty small. I wanted to see market locals go for shopping but if you can't decide what you want to eat or your partner wants something else this is a perfect place.

Fun place to try a variety of food
Aug 2021 • Couples
It’s a fun place to eat where you can try a variety of different foods. Downstairs is for shopping (cheese, meats etc) and upstairs is like a big food court. However, just because it’s a market the food and wine isn’t particularly cheap (some was even overpriced) so choose wisely!

Expensive and sometimes low quality food court
Jul 2021 • Couples
The first floor is a big food court for italian food. You can find a big diversity, each person going to his/her preferrefd specialty shop.
However it is a bit expensive and not always good.
My wife had pasta with urchins, and the cook boiled the urchins in the sauce, so the taste went away ...
I had pasta carbonara with truffle and mushrooms, and whereas I could clearly taste and smell porcini mushrooms, the truffle was inexistant : neither in taste nor in smell. I even got the cook to add a little truffle, but no improvement. The cook said I should not have had a carbonara which drowned the smell, but I rather suspect his truffles were bad (chinese?).

fun
Jul 2021
I stopped into Eatily in the food court, enjoyed browsing their specialty items, and bought a couple things, including a blueberry cream and some little jars of banana pepper powder. Also had a good chat with the woman running the store.

Afterward, I sat at a wine counter and had a lovely sipping experienced. I ordered a glass of Brunello and also had a sample on white sangria, just for fun.

A beautiful market experience
Jul 2021
Went their for some food. Many options on the 2nd floor including traditional pizza and pasta options. It’s kinda like an upmarket food hall in a market. Recommend a visit.
